Rosedale
About The Area
Some may argue but Rosedale is Toronto’s most luxurious and elite neighbourhood. The only people who contest often have real estate in Forest Hill, Bridle Path, Yorkville, Lawrence Park or Hoggs Hollow. The sheer luxury of the 1860-1930 Victorian, Georgian, Tudor and Edwardian style mansions are just part of what makes this area so desirable. With their proximity to the city core property sales are almost always in the million dollar plus category. To its residences Rosedale’s street plan makes perfect sense, for its visitors there is no place in Toronto where it is easier to get lost. The streets created by Mary Jarvis, the woman who founded the name Rosedale and settled their in 1820 with her husband William Jarvis, is responsible for its twisting roads as they were paved on top of her old horse and buggy tracks. This intimidating infrastructure design creates a privacy that is desirable for local inhabitants. On December 4th 1909 the CFL played their first Grey Cup game in a North Rosedale park. St Andrews College and Rosedale Golf Club also use to call this area home.
