Lawrence Park
About The Area
Lawrence Park is considered one of Toronto’s most exclusive residential neighbourhoods. It is located in a very peaceful and tranquil setting that includes gently rolling hills, winding roads and lush topography. Lawrence Parks design helps keep traffic to a minimum with all of its shops, schools and recreational facilities on its periphery. Its whimsical houses include a variety of architectural styles including English Cottage, Tudor Revival, Georgian and Colonial Style; houses were built between 1910 and the late 1940’s. Renovations in the neighbourhood have been sensitive to preserve the old world charm of these homes. Lawrence Park was named after John Lawrence who sold the parcel of land to the Dovercourt Land Company. As per its first advertisement ever Lawrence Park is considered an “Aristocratic Neighbourhood, 400′ above Lake Ontario and Far from the lake winds of winter” The building of houses in Lawrence Park was interrupted by two World Wars, a recession and a depression causing its completion to finally be realized in 1950.
