Forest Hill is the only elite midtown neighbourhood that rivals Rosedale. They both blend the most imposing and majestic homes with relatively unassuming dwellings. Both of them have elite reputations and send their children to prestigious private schools and Ivey League Universities. These two, one-time-suburbs, are now both completely Central. Rosedale would rather remain a secret and stay hidden, while Forest Hill wants to always be in the spotlight. In Rosedale, extravagant new houses are rare; in Forest Hill, many older homes have been demolished with large neo-traditional houses replacing them. They are slowly changing the face of the area. Forest Hill is almost purely residential. There is a little a retail strip on Spadina just north of St Clair, called “The Village” is a great place to sit, enjoy a coffee and read the paper or do some shopping between dropping the kids off at school and Yoga.
