Toronto’s Neighbourhoods

Toronto is a city of small towns.

There are so many distinct areas within Toronto’s real estate boundaries that have developed because of the diversity of Toronto’s population and the history of Toronto’s growth through time.

For this section I have developed profiles for every neighbourhood that I have grown up living, working, playing in and loving.

I have stats that relate to recent sales and a summary of what the neighbourhood is like today and from where it came from.

Now that I am selling Toronto real estate throughout the central core I am getting to know these neighbourhoods even more intimately.

In North Toronto and Lytton Park I spent time growing up on the residential streets of Chatsworth, Bedford Park, Wanless, Chudleigh, Teddington, Golfdale, Riverview, Lytton,  Alexandra, Blythwood and Sheldrake as well as all of the Glens; Glengrove, Glencairn, Glenview, Glengowan.

Even though I was a Yonge and Lawrence kid I remember being in awe at the grandeur of my friends homes in Rosedale, Hoggs Hollow, Moore Park, Summerhill and Forest Hill. When I would go to friends homes in these neighbourhoods they seemed like they were in different parts of the country. I didn’t recognise the stores or movie theatres, sometimes even the garbage trucks looked different.

There was always a birthday party nearby on Dawlish, Dinnick, St Leonards, Donino, Donwoods, Plymbridge or Ivor Road.

Around the holidays we would go to dinner parties and family functions on Bin Scarth, South Drive, Heath Street, Rose Park, Chestnut Park, Highland, Inglewood, Moore, Roxborough, Cluny and Douglas.

During the summer months we would visit our “pool friends” on Russel Hill, Forest Hill, Killbarry, Hill Holm, Dunvegan or Dunloe.

Since I have been a Toronto real estate agent I have been discovering such neighbourhood gems as Bennington Heights and exploring the many streets of Leaside, Davisville Village and The Republic of Rathnelly.

I have recently purchased my first home down in Riverside which is south of Riverdale and West of Leslieville. An exceptional area for investment or first time buyers.

Although my professional success and focus has been on the homes of these very streets I just mentioned I have taken a side interest in Toronto Factory Lofts.

Please check out the section that covers all of Toronto’s hard Lofts.

If your budget doesn’t topple $400K it is almost impossible to buy a house. You will have to look into the world of condominiums and I think the best style of condo living are factory lofts.

My foray into downtown has been exciting with my interest being in Toronto Factory Lofts. I love lofts because of their unique existence that pays homage to Toronto’s great history.

There is no way to re-create a 100 year old knitting mill with 18 ft ceilings with extraordinary restaurants right around the corner and beautiful Victorian homes right across the street.

Builders can simply carbon copy traditional condo’s. Especially if there is a vacant footprint for them to build on right next door. Just look at the area near the Rogers Centre (Sky Dome). It is starting to look like a cut and paste skyline.

Please enjoy the profiles I have drawn up on all of my favorite neighbourhoods and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any thoughts or criticisms.
